Steven Klinsky

NMC Founder and CEO & Chairman of NMFC

Steven B. Klinsky has served as Chairman of the board of directors of New Mountain Finance Corporation since July 2010. Mr. Klinsky established New Mountain Capital in 1999. Prior to founding New Mountain Capital, Mr. Klinsky was co-founder of the Leverage Buyout Group of Goldman Sachs & Co. (“Goldman”) (1981-1984), where he helped execute over $3 billion of pioneering transactions for Goldman and its clients. He then joined Forstmann Little and Co. (“Forstmann Little”) as an Associate Partner (1984-1986) and a General Partner (1986-1999), helping to oversee seven private equity and debt partnerships totaling over $10 billion in capital. Mr. Klinsky was the most senior partner of Forstmann Little outside of the Forstmann family for a majority of the 1990s.

Mr. Klinsky received his B.A. in Economics and Political Philosophy, with high honors, from the University of Michigan in 1976. He received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School (class of 1979) and his J.D., with honors, from Harvard Law School (class of 1981). He is or has been chairman or a director of numerous corporations and philanthropies.

Rome Arnold III

Independent Director

Rome Arnold has been a Director of New Mountain Finance Corporation since 2017.  From January 2017 until December 2023, Mr. Arnold has served as a Senior Advisor at Rose and Co., a financial-technology startup company with a focus on digital media. From January 2012 through August 2016, Mr. Arnold was a Managing Director at UBS Securities in their Energy Group serving as the Head of Oil Field Services.

He received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, with High Distinction (Baker Scholar). Mr. Arnold received his B.A., cum laude, in Psychology and History of Art from Yale College.

Barbara Daniel

Independent Director

Barbara Daniel has been a Director of New Mountain Finance Corporation since 2023. Ms. Daniel is a retired global media and entertainment executive with over 30 years of experience across strategy, mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance. Most recently as Chief Strategy Officer for SiriusXM (Nasdaq: SIRI) until February 2025, Ms. Daniel was responsible for driving the company’s corporate strategy and overseeing M&A, strategic investments and the Music Licensing and Royalties team. She joined SiriusXM in 2012. Prior to that, she served as Senior Vice President, Corporate Treasurer at E*TRADE Financial Corporation (Nasdaq: ETFC), an electronic trading platform, and was Chief Financial Officer at CIFC Asset Management LLC, a corporate and structured credit investment firm. Ms. Daniel also previously served as Managing Director, Investment Banking at JP Morgan Chase advising Telecom, Media and Technology start-ups and Fortune 100 companies. Further, she was a Director on the board of SoundCloud and served as the Chairperson of the Audit Committee for ISOS Capital and held a position on the board of SiriusXM Canada.

Ms. Daniel holds a BA degree in Economics from William and Mary University and an MBA from Cornell University - S.C. Johnson Graduate School of Management.

Robert Hamwee

Vice Chairman and Director

Robert Hamwee, Vice Chairman and Director, joined New Mountain in 2008, and was CEO of NMFC from its inception until the end of 2022. Mr. Hamwee has also served as a Managing Director of New Mountain Capital since 2008. Prior to joining New Mountain, he was President of GSC Group (“GSC”), where he was responsible for managing GSC’s control distressed debt funds. He was with Greenwich Street Capital Partners, the predecessor to GSC from 1994 to 1999. Prior to that, Mr. Hamwee was with The Blackstone Group from 1992 to 1994, where he worked on a wide range of assignments in the Restructuring and Merchant Banking Departments. Mr. Hamwee has chaired numerous creditor committees and bank steering groups and has been a lead director for many corporate boards, including Purina Mills, Envirosource, and Viasystems.

He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Michigan with a B.B.A. degree in Finance and Accounting in 1992.

Daniel B. Hébert

Independent Director

Daniel B. Hébert has been a Director of New Mountain Finance Capital since2019 and was previously a Director from August 2011 until March 2012. September 2018, Mr. Hébert has served as Chief Executive Officer of Vision One Partners, LLC a FINRA registered broker dealer. From March 2022 through October 2024, Mr. Hébert was COO & CCO of Vision One Management Partners, LP, a constructive activist hedge fund based in Miami, Florida. In November 2024, Mr. Hébert was named Managing Partner of Athir Capital, a multi-strategy hedge fund launching in Q1 2025.  From May 2017 through May 2020, Mr. Hébert was the Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Bernstein Equity Partners LLC, a boutique investment banking firm and family office. From October 2013 until April 2017, Mr. Hébert was a Managing Director at Sandler & O’Neill, an investment banking firm.  He served as a Partner and Managing Director at North Sea Partners LLC, an investment banking firm, from 2011 until September 2013. Prior to that he served as a Managing Director at Tri-Artisan Partners, LLC from 2005 through the summer of 2011. Before Tri-Artisan, Mr. Hébert spent approximately seven years as the Head of Merger & Acquisitions at Rabo Bank International. From September 1991 through March 1999, he was a Managing Director in the Corporate Finance Department of BT Alex Brown. Prior to joining BT Alex Brown, Mr. Hébert formed Dakota Capital in February 1991 to acquire a Canadian wine distributor; and from 1985 to 1991, he worked as a Director in the Corporate Finance Department of Salomon Brothers. Mr. Hébert began his career in the Corporate Finance Department at Morgan Stanley in New York in 1982.

Mr. Hébert holds a Bachelor of Arts from Acadia University and received his M.B.A. from Richard Ivey School of Business.

John Kline

President and Chief Executive Officer

John Kline, Chief Executive Officer, President and Director, joined New Mountain in 2008. Prior to joining New Mountain, he worked at GSC Group from 2001 to 2008 as an Investment Analyst and Trader for GSC’s control distressed and corporate credit funds. From 1999 to 2001, Mr. Kline was with Goldman where he worked in the Credit Risk Management and Advisory Group. Mr. Kline currently sits on the board of Unitek Global Services, a current NMFC portfolio company.

Mr. Kline graduated from Dartmouth College, with an A.B. degree in History in 1999.

John P. Malfettone

Independent Director

John Malfettone has been a director of New Mountain Finance Corporation since 2026. He has also served as a Senior Advisor to the Transaction Advisory Group at Alvarez & Marsal since 2020. Prior to retirement, he previously served as Senior Managing Director at Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (“CD&R”), a global private investment firm based in New York. Mr. Malfettone joined CD&R in 2010; he was the leader of CD&R’s Portfolio Procurement, Portfolio Insurance Programs, and the Chief Compliance Officer. Previously, from 2004 to 2010, Mr. Malfettone served as a Partner, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer at Oak Hill Capital Partners, a leading U.S. based middle market private equity firm. Prior to joining Oak Hill, he worked for 12 years at General Electric Co. (“GE”) serving numerous leadership roles since 1990, including that of a Managing Director at GE’s private equity business, EVP CFO and Corporate Controller for GE Capital. Before GE, Mr. Malfettone started his career at KPMG in 1977 and was promoted to partner in 1988. Mr. Malfettone’s charitable endeavors include President of the Cardinal Shehan Center Board and Co-Founder and CEO of Bleeding Blue for Good, the non-profit NIL collective for the University of Connecticut.

Mr. Malfettone has been a CPA since 1978 and earned his Bachelor of Sciences in Accounting, magna cum laude, from the University of Connecticut, where he is a member of the School of Business Hall of Fame.

David Ogens

Independent Director

David Ogens has been a Director of New Mountain Finance Corporation since 2010. Mr. Ogens served as the President and a Director of Med Inc. from 2011 - 2023, a company that provided complex rehabilitation services to patients with serious neuromuscular and respiratory diseases. Previously, Mr. Ogens served as Senior Managing Director and Head of Investment Banking at Leerink Swann LLC, a specialized healthcare investment bank focused on emerging growth healthcare companies, from 2005 to 2009. Prior to serving at Leerink Swann LLC, Mr. Ogens was Chairman and Co-Founder of SCS Financial Services, LLC, a private wealth management firm. Before cofounding SCS Financial Services, LLC in 2002, Mr. Ogens was a Managing Director in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman, Sachs & Co, where he served as a senior investment banker and a head of the High Technology Investment Banking Group.

Mr. Ogens received his B.A. and M.B.A from the University of Virginia.

Adam Weinstein

NMFC Executive Vice President

Adam Weinstein initially served as the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of New Mountain Finance Corporation from July 2010 until January 2013 when he was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of New Mountain Finance Corporation where he now serves in an oversight role of the finance and administrative areas. Mr. Weinstein joined the board of directors of New Mountain Finance Corporation in August 2012. Mr. Weinstein serves as a Managing Director, Head of Firm Operations and Chief Financial Officer of New Mountain Capital and has been in various roles since joining in 2005. Prior to joining New Mountain Capital in 2005, Mr. Weinstein was a Manager at Deloitte & Touche, LLP and worked in that firm’s merger and acquisition and private equity investor services areas. Mr. Weinstein sits on a number of boards of directors for professional and non-profit organizations.

Mr. Weinstein received his B.S. from Binghamton University, is a member of the AICPA and is a New York State Certified Public Accountant.
